Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are journalists that have contributed in the fight against the rights of migrants in the United States of America. They are the co-founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media that have been at the center of advocating for change against the violation of human rights.
Their interest in the fight against violation of human rights came when they were arrested by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio on October 18, 2007. This is because they revealed the existence of a grand jury that sought to use their stories about the Sheriff.
Lacey and Larkin appealed against the ruling and were compensated $3.75 million. They have in turn invested the money in the fight against human rights abuses.
